Sanef assistance - FAQ

When you drive on a free-flow toll motorway, such as the A13 or A14, your vehicle is automatically detected as you pass through the gantries. Unlike traditional toll booths with barriers, free-flow technology relies on a non-stop detection system, using multiple devices to identify the vehicle and calculate the amount due.

What data is collected when I pass through a free-flow gantry?

When you use a free-flow toll motorway (such as the A13 or A14), several elements are automatically recorded to enable your vehicle identification and travel billing. This data is strictly limited to what is necessary to ensure the proper operation of the toll.

What information about my vehicle is recorded?

When you pass through a free-flow gantry, several pieces of data are automatically collected to ensure vehicle identification and correct billing for the trip.

The detection equipment records:

  • A photo of the vehicle at the time of passage
  • The license plate reading (front and rear)
  • The Vehicle category (car, utility vehicle, motorcycle, etc.)
  • The exact timestamp of the passage (date and time)
  • The location of detection on the network
  • The vehicle's position on the roadway
  • The direction of travel

This information allows the vehicle to be clearly identified, the toll amount to be calculated, and the distance traveled to be validated. It also ensures the reliability of automatic processing in the absence of a physical barrier.

Is my electronic toll badge detected automatically?

Yes. If you have subscribed to electronic toll collection (for example, with a Liber-t Bip&Go badge), it is automatically detected as long as it is properly positioned on your windshield. This allows your toll to be immediately associated with your customer account and billed without any action on your part.

Why is the license plate systematically recorded?

In a non-stop toll system, the license plate is an essential identifier. It allows the passage to be associated with a vehicle even if a badge is not present. It is thanks to this information that you can find your journey on sanef.com and make payment on time.

What happens if I don't have a toll badge?

If no badge is detected during your visit, your license plate will be used to identify you. You must then log in to sanef.com within 72 hours to pay the toll. You will need to provide your bank details at the time of payment, but they are not stored beyond the transaction.
